I've always thought the MZ-80K was mysteriously slow when compared with the 80A.

The only MZ computer I know with a 'MON' command in BASIC is the MZ-80A running its SA-5510. You type in 'MON' and it returns to the Monitor. Then you must use the jump command in Monitor to get back into BASIC, so the command J1200 from the Monitor command line will do it.

Yes, there was a game very much like Zaxxon for the MZ-80K in Japan but I don't recall its name right now.

Just to be clear, that's not the right BASIC for the MZ-80A. It should be "BASIC SA-5510".
